Pages with filter web parts

Filters are a powerful way to display information on SharePoint web pages.  Below is an example where a filter references a list of values found in a list of master records.  It allows a user to select one of those available values and filters the two views below:
The first section filters out all but those master records that match the filtered item leaving only the one the user selected. The second section then shows a view from a separate list of child records where the filter now applies to a related field.

As you can imagine a user can now select a master record to see not only see information on that master record but also view all related child records.  This has enabled audiences quick access to their information while allowing those administering the lists a quicker means to view, edit, and add records to their lists.
